Memory, saved chats and context
Keeping a transcript is different from using every detail in the next reply. Pins, saved exchanges and the model's context serve different purposes.
Context and history
The transcript is the record you can read. Context is the material used when producing a response. A visible older message is not proof that all its details are being considered again.
Record the model and settings when testing continuity. Compare a short exchange with a longer one rather than assuming the same recall throughout.
Pinned information
Keep pins focused on facts needed for future decisions. For example, a story note might say that two adult travelers agreed to meet at the northern station after sunset. Remove the note once it is no longer relevant.
Review pins for contradictions after an edit or time jump. Repeating conflicting facts gives the model more than one version of the situation.
Open the message actions to pin a useful line, then review it through Pinned Messages. The editing and pin controls keep a reminder separate from the original wording.
Saved Memories
- Choose Save Memory in the conversation.
- Select the exchange you want to keep, up to 100 messages.
- Choose Public, Unlisted or Private before confirming.
- Load the saved exchange when you want to revisit it; a summary option is available.
Public memories can be discovered by other users. Unlisted memories are available through their link. Private memories are not link-shareable. Choose the scope that fits the material before sharing it.
Keeping a longer story consistent
Keep a short note of the current location, relationship, unresolved task and recent change. Correct a mistaken detail before building another scene around it.
For shared background, use a World Card. For the next scene itself, set a clear roleplay opening.
Frequently asked questions
Does visible chat history mean the character recalls every message?
No. The visible transcript and the context used for a reply are different.
Can a saved memory be private?
Yes. Select Private when saving the exchange. Public and Unlisted are separate visibility choices.
